Hooked On Muskies

Shane Holcomb's new fishing guide service in central Ohio has a new brand. This began as a hand drawn pencil sketch, then placed in Clip Studio Paint for digital inking, next into Photoshop for clean up and lastly into Adobe Illustrator to be turned into vector art and finished off in color with type and graphics added. It has vector precision yet still retains an organic feel to it. Pure vectors can be so perfect and "computery" at times that the more you can dirty it up the better. It was a fun project for a fellow Muskies Inc chapter brother.

The lower right image is the "see thru" logo where the shirt color shows through and becomes part of the design.

Sylbilly Lures logo

New for an Ohio lure crafter who is also a Muskies Inc-er I know. Did five formats for him in black and white and color, in vertical and horizontal, and included an indexed style guide to help manage the 40+ files generated for his varied usage needs.

Faux Beer Label for the Muskie Club

Muskie Inc Central Ohio Chapter, of which I am a member and also the merchandise director, has a new fake beer label tee I designed. Recycling an old muskie drawing for a design that never was used, I flipped it over and created the Flippin' Muskie Faux Label Tee. This beer does not exist but may well in the future if the club decides to license it to a local beer maker. I will update this to include a link if that ever happens. You can find it on our Spreadshirt shop at COMI 4's T-shirt shop.

New Logo for the NBA (Northern Bass Alliance)

Here's a recent project for some guys up north. The Northern Bass Alliance is a couple of guys who want to bring the smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing communities together. They had an idea of what they wanted so my job was just to flesh out the brand for them. That makes it pretty easy when a client has definite ideas of what they want. No searching through exploratory images to find something that appeals to them. No back and forth, on and on until you finally nail a design they like. Thanks guys for the assignment, and best of luck with the fish!

What a Brand Package looks like for your Logo Project

When a client wants a "logo" they often think of it as one image file that gives a face to their brand. In fact that one image must be repurposed into many file formats that they will need for any number of usages including: signage, product packaging, website, business documents and advertising. A logo is the basis for all the ways in which your business will apply your brand but it is by no means all you need to utilize your logo to it's maximum potential. When I create your logo design, I also create a total brand package of many files in color and black and white, spot colors, sizes and resolutions, not to mention the formats a vendor might ask for at a print service. And I give you a style guide which organizes and keeps those various (50, 60 or more) graphic assets at your fingertips so you can deliver the right file to your service provider or printer. Here is a sample style guide for a recent client showing what you get when you have Collins Cartoon Studios do your brand design work. So don't think of it as just a 'logo', think of it as your brand package. Everything you'll need to boost your business's recognition factor.

New Logo for Talonz Wooden Lure company

I did a vector art update for a brand that was recently purchased. The original logo mark was done by the previous owner's wife in analogue and not really useful for marketing purposes in its limited form. The new owners wanted an exact likeness to the old mark but in vector format that will allow it to be multi-purposed for marketing and signage.

Muskies Inc. Chapter 41 Logo Cleanup

I updated and cleaned up the club logo. I just tightened up the fish and kept everything else the same. The blk/wht version was optimized for printing on things that need heavier lines in the fins etc. so that's why it is a little different.

Tee shirt for an International Muskie Tournament

The Ray Demers Memorial Can-Am Muskie Tournament. A joint venture between the Central Ohio Chapter of Muskies Inc. and the Belle River, Ontario Chapter. An annual event since 2002.

Vector art for logos and advertising

Cartoons can play a big part in a successful ad campaign and generate lots of interest in your company brand. Cartoons attract the eye and humor can grab the customer and connect on an emotional level that says, "We are a fun bunch of folks!"
