My art in other art

Just invoiced the Estate of Martin Kippenberger for a reprint image of a cartoon that the German artist incorporated into a piece of art and which will be included in his latest Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings Vol. Three 1987-1992. The work Untitled (from the series Fred the frog), 1989/90 used a fax of the cartoon, sent to him, which the artist incorporated into his painting. The cartoon was published in Hustler in the early 1980's, here in fax form and the original. This is a first for me! They got in contact with me and asked for permission for usage. They were very agreeable on my fee and I appreciate their integrity on searching me out.

Bookbaby Bookshop

In a rarely traveled corner of the web there is an unassuming little bookshop. Down the dark alley, behind the dingy doorway you will find it tucked into a poorly lit space next to the dumpster. The little old man at the counter pays you no mind as you open the creaky door, ringing the small, tarnished bell. Looking about you notice that there is only one book on the shelves. The Straight To Hell Bookshop.

Most Popular again!

I am living right it would appear. Most popular again! Twice in a week! They like me! Yes I am making too big a deal about it; I went back and it had vanished into thin air. But please grant me my fun. It's one of the reasons why I do what I do. That's really one of the foundations of why a young person becomes a cartoonist.  One: to get rich and famous, two: have girls fawn on you, and three: to have everyone like you. You get all those working together, fueled by teenage hormones and there's nothing a young boy (OK a girl too) can't accomplish with a pencil and paper.

Reuben Awards Judging

I'm in the running for a Reuben Award in the Advertising Division category with the National Cartoonist Society! There are a host of other more talented folks there with me, so it's a long shot for the top prize but as they say, "It's an honor to be a nominee". Here's a screenshot of the voting page since you probably can't get to there without a password. Good luck to my Ozzie pal Anton Emdin. As if he needs it. :)

Cartooning Business

Companies are buying cartoons for their corporate blogs to add interest for their postings and it is working for them. If your business has a blog that isn't getting the attention you would like, try cartoons mixed in with your content and you'll get more views and shares, guaranteed.
Here are three toons for a couple of large clients in pencil draft form. I always like to see pencil work; it's so free and spontaneous and you can see the creative thinking going on behind a drawing.
